September 15, 2026The Aragonese Government's Department of Health and the Ministry have held a technical meeting to begin coordinating the Agency's arrival in our community
The Aragonese Government's Department of Health held its first working meeting with the Ministry of Health on Thursday to organize the implementation of the State Public Health Agency (AESP) in Zaragoza.
The meeting, held remotely, represents the first contact between the two administrations after the designation of the Aragonese capital as the headquarters of the future state entity.
A meeting that has allowed the initiation of the necessary institutional coordination to organize the arrival of the Agency in Zaragoza and to establish a joint roadmap for its implementation.
During the session, the Director General of Public Health for the regional government, Aitziber Lanza, reiterated that “Aragon is ready to immediately host the headquarters of the State Public Health Agency.” This will take place in a space of approximately 900 square meters located at Expo Empresarial, which “is already furnished and equipped with furniture, electricity, air conditioning, and cleaning services, and therefore could accommodate the new institution's activities from the outset.” This is a temporary space to allow work to begin immediately.
The expectation is that in the coming months the institutional agreement between both administrations will be signed, and a first phase of relocation to the temporary headquarters of Expo Empresarial will begin, where some of the Agency's staff will start working while the adaptation works of the Aragon Pavilion, the definitive headquarters of the State Public Health Agency, are carried out.
The establishment of the Agency in Zaragoza is a strategic project for Aragon. Its selection as the headquarters positions the region as a national leader in public health and strengthens its standing within the Spanish healthcare and scientific community. Furthermore, it recognizes Aragon's track record in this field and will contribute to strengthening the region's healthcare, research, and university ecosystem.
