September 23, 2025The "la Caixa" Foundation has launched the 9th edition of the CaixaResearch call for projects in biomedicine and health. The aim of this call is to identify and promote promising initiatives of scientific excellence and potential value and social impact, both in basic research and in clinical or translational research.
The projects presented must be framed in the thematic areas following:
- Oncology.
- Neurosciences.
- Infectious diseases.
- Cardiovascular and related metabolic diseases.
- Enabling technologies in the four thematic areas above.
Project proposals must have a duration of up to 3 years of execution and may be:
- singles: submitted by a single research organisation (applicant organisation), max. €500.000.
- In research consortium: submitted by a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 research organisations, coordinated by the applicant organisation, max. €1.000.000.
Requirements
Projects must include a Project Leader (PL), who must have at least 7 years of postdoctoral research experience. In the case of research consortia, a Principal Investigator (PI) must also be included for each participating organization.
A person may not be a Project Leader (PL) if:
- He is already a PL from another proposal, but he will not be restricted from participating as a researcher or PI.
- If it has been PL of a proposal financed by La Caixa in the last 3 editions.
- PLs who have obtained a score less than 5.50 in the previous edition.
Furthermore, projects that develop studies whose results are subject to rights of any kind by a for-profit entity before the closing of applications are not eligible. The "la Caixa" Foundation reserves the right to reject proposals with a clear benefit to for-profit organizations.
Activities associated with proposals funded by this call cannot have other funding.
Application
Applications will be made electronically through the application platform attaching the documentation required in the call for applications. The entire process and the documentation provided will be in English.
