13 January 2026The BBVA Foundation supports applied research through the Prisms and Problems program, open to interdisciplinary collaboration and the possible participation of experts who, from public agencies or other public and private organizations, contribute to the analysis and practical approach to some of the main challenges of the present.
The call seeks to promote applied research projects on issues of special socio-economic, health and environmental relevance.
The 2025 Program is dedicated exclusively to the following issues:
- Water cycle: restoration and protection of rivers, wetlands, aquifers and marine areas
- Forest mass: current state, conservation and management
- Housing, sustainable cities and urban mobility
- Development and evaluation of AI models
- Neurodegenerative diseases
- Socioeconomic analysis of the healthcare system
- Migration processes: social, economic, political and cultural effects (immigration policies and regulatory models)
The total funding for this call is EUR 3.000.000
The execution period is 24 months and the project must be completed by the end of that period.
Projects must be submitted by a single PI, meeting the following requirements:
- Possess Spanish nationality or residency in Spain (requirements)
- To hold a doctoral degree at the time of application
- To be linked by employment, statutory or civil service relationship to a university institution or to a public or private non-profit organization dedicated to research based in Spain
