Ramón Areces Foundation grants for the completion of Doctoral Theses

The fundamental objective of the Ramón Areces Foundation is to promote scientific and technical research of excellence in Spain through research grants, the training of young researchers, as well as the dissemination, promotion and development of education and scientific culture in general.

In compliance with these objectives, the Board of Trustees of the Foundation wishes to collaborate in the training of people who wish to begin scientific research, financing contracts for the completion of doctoral theses in doctoral programs at universities and other Spanish research centers whose objective the achievement of the Doctorate title starting in January 2023. These contracts will be regulated by Law 14/2011, of June 1, on Science, Technology and Innovation and Royal Decree 103/2019 of June 1. March.

– Ramón Areces Foundation grants for the completion of Doctoral Theses in Life and Material Sciences.

Requirements

1. Be in possession of a bachelor's degree, engineer, architect or university graduate, with a degree of at least 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits, at the time of submitting the application. In this call, preference will be given to candidates who have obtained these qualifications between 2018 and 2022.
2. To be enrolled or admitted to a face-to-face doctoral program at a university or research center whose headquarters are in Spain or, not being enrolled or admitted to the aforementioned doctoral program at the time of submitting the application, to be available to be admitted prior to the date on which the benefit is formalized.
3. Not be in possession of a doctoral degree or have previously enjoyed a predoctoral contract.
4. Applicants must have an average grade in their academic record corresponding to the bachelor's degree, degree or equivalent title higher than 2 on the 0-4 scale (Pass-1, Notable-2, Outstanding-3, Honors-4) . The average grade of the record will be the result of the application of the following formula: sum of the credits obtained by the student, multiplied each of them by the value of the corresponding grades, and divided by the number of total credits obtained by the student

Endowment

The total financial award received by the researcher will amount to 35.000 euros gross per year and will include the social charges borne by the university or research center. Each year 14 monthly payments will be paid, two of them corresponding to the extraordinary payments in December and June. (see II. Conditions. Call).
