The Government of Aragon, in collaboration with Roche, will award innovative initiatives in hospitals and healthcare centers that promote more humane and high-quality care. Projects can be submitted until June 24, 2025.

The IIS Aragón and the Ibercaja Foundation have signed an agreement to promote the innovative oncology research project "Sara."

This research, led by the Molecular Oncology Group at the IIS Aragón, aims to improve the efficacy of chemotherapy while significantly reducing its adverse effects. The signing of this agreement reinforces the commitment of both institutions to the advancement of cancer research in Aragon.

Alejandra González Loyola, awarded for her research to combat pancreatic cancer

The IIS Aragón scientist has been recognized with the 2025 L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" award for her pioneering approach to combating pancreatic cancer using tumor biomechanics, with the aim of improving the delivery of treatments to the tumor by modulating the physical environment of the cancer.

The Mediterranean diet may act as a protective factor against the genetic risk of obesity in European preadolescents.

This is demonstrated by a study led by the GENUD group (IIS Aragón and the University of Zaragoza), which has just been published in the journal Pediatric Obesity with an analysis of 2000 participants, between 2 and 16 years old, over three different years.

A new species of mycobacterium has been discovered at the Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza.

Professionals from HUMS and IIS Aragón, among other institutions, participated in the research. The bacteria has been named "Mycobacterium servetii" in honor of the Renaissance physician and the hospital.

A project to study why people are getting sick is launching in Zaragoza.

The IIS Aragón is coordinating the project in the city, which will follow 4.000 people for 20 years to improve personalized and preventive medicine. The study is part of the IMPaCT Cohort, a national program promoted by the Carlos III Health Institute.
