Not even the pandemic has prevented Aspanoa from attending his appointment with art and solidarity on time. The association that cares for children with cancer in Aragon has inaugurated this Tuesday a new edition – and there are already 26 – of its annual exhibition, which this time brings together 101 works by as many Aragonese artists. The pieces can be seen and purchased at the IAACC Pablo Serrano in Zaragoza until April 18 and, as always, the proceeds from their sale will go to the fight against childhood cancer. This year, prices range between 100 and 2.500 euros.
The Aspanoa solidarity exhibition has become over time the main collective exhibition of contemporary Aragonese art. Thus, visitors who come to the Pablo Serrano museum will be able to enjoy the work of seven Aragón Goya winners: Pedro Avellaned, Natalio Bayo, José Manuel Broto, Julia Dorado, Teresa Ramón, Juan José Vera and Rafael Navarro. They are joined by many other renowned or well-known artists such as Eva Armisén, David Callau, Lorena Domingo, Ignacio Fortún or Alejandro Monge.
The exhibition was inaugurated this Tuesday by the Minister of Culture of the regional Executive, Felipe Faci, and the president of the association, Gabriel Tirado, who recalled that this initiative is "vital" to finance the social work of Aspanoa. «We are proud to once again bring together a hundred artists to fight childhood cancer. If your solidarity is always important, now it is even more so, because this is one of the few activities that we can organize due to the coronavirus," lamented Tirado, who pointed out, for example, that the traditional Aspanoa soccer match could not be held. .
Many of the 101 artists who have donated their works to the association participated this Tuesday in the presentation of the exhibition. Like Natalio Bayo, who has been collaborating with the exhibition for "23 years." "It is a pleasure and a pleasure to be able to help in the commendable work that Aspanoa carries out," stressed Bayo, who donated an engraving made 20 years ago and inspired by Goya's 'Caprichos'.
The painter from Huesca Teresa Ramón, who has been collaborating with Aspanoa for 20 years, and José Antonio Barrios spoke in this same sense. "Participating here means unconditional support for many children and that is a source of pride for me," said the sculptor.
A few years ago the exhibition incorporated new artistic disciplines such as graphic design or photography. In fact, the cover of this edition's catalog is a work by Rafael Navarro. «It is a joy that it could be organized; "I thought it wouldn't be possible this year," Navarro said.
In addition to in person, the works can be purchased by telephone and online at www.aspanoa.org, where prices and the catalog are available.
