Aspanoa has reopened its reception apartment, after a comprehensive renovation in recent months. This home is located next to the Miguel Servet Children's Hospital in Zaragoza, a center where all children with cancer in the Community and also in La Rioja receive treatment.
The Minister of Health of the Government of Aragon, Sira Repollés, and the general director of Health Care, José María Abad, visited this facility this Friday. This apartment has five rooms where as many families can stay during their children's hospital stay.
At the Children's Hospital they treat between 35 and 40 new cases of childhood cancer a year and between three and four relapses. In addition, they have around 400 children under active control - each child who completes the treatment is monitored in check-ups for 10 years.
For his part, the president of Aspanoa, Gabriel Tirado, explained that around 115.000 euros have been invested in this work that began in March and that last year 19 families of children with cancer used this shelter apartment, spending a total of 665 nights.
On the other hand, the Minister of Health thanked Aspanoa for its work in supporting the families of children with cancer: "Facilitating logistics and being able to have facilities for your daily life is very desirable at such times, as is having support." to face the disease more effectively," he concluded.
