Compulsive overeaters anonymous: “I ate 40 times a day”
November 8, 2021The Minister of Health, Sira Repollés, announced this Friday in Parliament that the document has already been prepared and that it will come into operation imminently.
The Department of Health has already concluded the protocol that will be launched to 'long covid' cases –also known as persistent covid– and whatand will be managed from Primary Care with a reference figure. The counselor Sira Repollés announced yesterday in the Plenary Session of the Cortes, in which she intervened after a question from the popular Ana Marín, the future implementation of these guidelines that They will delve into rehabilitation and cognitive scales to determine the deterioration produced, one of the common effects among these patients.
The document was presented this week to the Long Covid Association of Aragon, whose working group – which includes healthcare personnel affected by persistent Covid – is analyzing it. For now, they preferred not to evaluate the content, although They trusted that the Department is open to the contributions they may propose. Repollés explained that this protocol will be in continuous evolution, since "the scientific evidence that emerges" will be incorporated. In addition, all the computer tools have already been adapted to put it into operation. "A protocol can be done in a week, but what interests us is its quality and scientific evidence"he stressed after criticism from Marín about the delay in the approval of these guidelines, which are already in operation in other autonomies.
The incidence, on the rise
Public Health reported 123 infections this Friday, which is 72 more than a week ago. An upward trend that is already The seven-day cumulative incidence rises to 49,7 and that causes the basic reproduction index, which indicates the number of positives caused by an active contagion, to be above 1. Specifically, it is around 1,18. For Enrique Bernal, senior researcher at the Aragonese Institute of Health Sciences and Health advisor, "the indicators that are based on the number of cases with low cumulative incidence, and high vaccination coverage, are less expressive of community transmission and rather reflect institutional or family outbreaks, which hardly pass from the second generation in transmission". As he explained, in November 2020, for example, a reproductive index of 1,2 surely meant that, if no measures were implemented, daily cases would have doubled in three weeks. "On the other hand, now – as he stated – that is not foreseeable."
The slight increase that the indicators are experiencing reflect, in his opinion, a rebound, since there are still almost 200.000 susceptible people in Aragon, who are not immunized, together with greater interaction during the Pilar week, an increase in mobility on weekends or the reduction of restrictions on nightlife and indoor entertainment. "These factors should lead to a rebound and that is what we see and perhaps will see in the next two weeks," said.
While the incidence continues to increase, the number of hospitalized patients also increases, although more slowly. There are currently 81 patients admitted, 14 of them in the ICU. There are two more than the previous day and 17 additional compared to seven days ago.
