Patient in Science presents a series of workshops aimed at creativity and personal expression. Open to all interested parties, these workshops seek to make accessible research and science, promoting the knowledge and active participation. The project is open to all citizens to bring research and science closer to the general public through free activities. Paciente en Ciencia was born as an initiative of the IIS Aragón with the collaboration of the associations AECC, ASPANOA, ASAPME and ATADES, and the involvement of Aragonese Patient Forum and which has funding and collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science and Innovation (FECYT).
Audiovisual creation and documentary workshop
The workshop seeks for attendees to learn about the audiovisual world and reflect on the union between patient and researcher to create audiovisual stories.
Santiago Vicente, expert in audiovisual production, Together with the members of the IIS Aragón Innovation Unit, Marina Mostajo, graduate in Fine Arts and graduate in 3D animation, and Julia Marco, journalist and master in 360º reporting, will teach the workshop.
The session will consist of two eminently practical sessions. At the beginning of the workshop, possible topics of audiovisual or documentary content, related to research and the health field, will be presented, on which attendees will be able to apply their work in the workshop. Participants will also be able to apply the knowledge assimilated in the workshop in their own idea.

Creative writing and story workshop
By story therapy, the attendees' reflection is sought on the union between patient and researcher or healthcare professional. Through the artistic expression of writing, participants will be able to learn and practice expressing aspects of their lives that are sometimes difficult to externalize.
Anabel García, writer and expert in story therapy and creative writing with experience in writing in the field of health, will teach the workshop with the facilitation of innovation technicians from IIS Aragón.
The session will consist of a part theoretical in which creative writing, the structure of stories and story therapy, and other experimental to practice what has been learned. The central axis of the workshop will be active participation and cooperation among attendees.

Photography workshop
The workshop offers photography basics and, above all, attendees will learn to observe and take the photo. In everyday life and very importantly in research, Stopping and observing before applying any experiment is essential to achieve a more successful result, In the case of photography the same thing happens.
The activity will be divided into two sessions of 2 hours each, the first will be theoretical and the second will be practice on the street.
Juan Antonio Pérez Vela, head of Communication and Marketing at AECC and professional photojournalist, will teach the workshop with the facilitation of innovation technicians from IIS Aragón.

What is Patient in Science?
The project "Patient in Science” is an initiative of the IAragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón) in collaboration with patient associations AECC, ASAPME, ASPANOA and ATADES and with the involvement of Aragonese Patient Forum. The project has the financing and collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
The program searches enhance the interaction between citizens, patients and the research group with the objectives of increasing knowledge and understanding of science and technology in the field of health, and facilitating the participation of patients in research and innovation projects.
“Patient in Science” consists of training actions and activities in which patients and citizens in general, together with researchers, will generate solutions and content of various kinds that combine creativity and scientific rigor.
The project, open to all citizens, is closely linked to the strategic initiative of IIS Aragón to incorporate citizens and patients into the Institute's research and innovation. Through activities in person and online In Aragón we want to bring basic and applied clinical research in health services closer to citizens to increase knowledge and understanding of science and technology.
