23 June, 2026
The Aragonese public health system has performed over 143.000 studies using artificial intelligence to detect bone lesions.
25 June, 2026The Canary Islands Foundation Carrera por la Vida – Walk for Life has announced the individuals, groups and companies that will be recognized in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In the medical field, the Research Award will be granted to Dr. Alberto Jimenez Schuhmacher, for his exemplary career at the head of Molecular Oncology Group of the Aragon Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón), and for being a world reference in the approach to male breast cancer.
The third sector, the work of associations and volunteers, is a fundamental element in supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer. The Social Action Award will be given to the Fuerteventura Metastatic Breast Cancer Association for its work in raising awareness of the issue and addressing the needs of patients on a non-capital island.
With over seven thousand participants and 20 editions, the Race for Life is one of the most important charity events in the Canary Islands and a national benchmark in supporting people with breast cancer. The Race's success depends largely on its organization and logistics, in which the social commitment of the staff and management of the SIAM MALL shopping center, the starting point of the great pink wave, is fundamental. This commitment will be recognized with the Corporate Social Responsibility Award. Likewise, after more than 10 years of collaborating with the Race for Life and serving as an example of support and solidarity among associations, the Foundation will present the Social Initiative Award to the ARMADA SUR group, one of the most prominent fan clubs of Club Deportivo Tenerife.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, making it crucial to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and attending regular medical appointments. Essential media outlets, which serve as powerful platforms for public awareness and social impact, are recognized by the Foundation for their corporate commitment to the Foundation's projects and the realities faced by people with breast cancer. CANARAGUA, a company that has supported and funded the charity calendar for the past 10 years, has also demonstrated this commitment and is therefore awarded the 2026 Special Prize.
