Today, Friday, March 12, the University of Zaragoza celebrates the Solemn Investiture Ceremony of the Magnificent Rector, José Antonio Mayoral, and the inauguration of its Board of Directors. The ceremony, which will take place at 12 noon in the Paraninfo building, will be chaired by the president of the Government of Aragon, Javier Lambán.
The current health requirements and preventive recommendations due to COVID-19 force the University of Zaragoza to hold the event with extraordinarily reduced attendance, which can be followed by streaming on the University website.
The event will begin with the formation of the academic and authorities delegation that, preceded by the maceros, will go to the Paraninfo room. Once started, the president will give the floor to the general secretary, Juan García Blasco, who will read the Decree appointing the rector. Next, the rector will take the oath or promise of office accompanied by his witnesses, Juan García Blasco and Manuel Serrano Bonafonte, proceeding to his investiture.
Subsequently, the appointment and oath or promise of the remaining members of the Board of Directors will be read. First the manager will do it, then the vice-chancellors and the chief of staff. The event will end with a few words from the recently invested rector, José Antonio Mayoral, and the president of the Government of Aragon, Javier Lambán.
