September 24, 2024Rain was the star of the twelfth edition of the BTT Aspanoa, held last Saturday in Almudévar, a municipality in Huesca where the Association has a House where it organizes camps, get-togethers and respites for children with cancer and their families.
Although the organisers confirmed early in the morning that the paths were in perfect condition, as only 5 litres per square metre had fallen during the night, a downpour just before the start of the charity race forced a change of plans.
Thus, It was decided that all cyclists would take the short route, 30 kilometers.Whereas The children's route was suspended, forcing families to go directly to the village pavilion, where the inflatables and refreshments were located. Aspanoa, in the words of its manager, Juan Carlos Acín, wanted to thank the 773 cyclists who have collaborated with the Association despite the forecasts of bad weather.
Some 600 people came to Almudévar to enjoy the event, although the downpour meant that only 300 people were able to ride their bikes.
The Association has also thanked the collaboration of the sponsoring companies and institutions, without whose support organizing this BTT would be impossible. They have been the Almudévar City Council, Adisseo, the Provincial Council of Huesca, Electricidad Medina, the Caja Rural de Aragón Foundation, Pastelería Tolosana, Transportes Torné and the Virgen de la Corona Cooperative.
In addition, the twelfth edition of the BTT Aspanoa wanted to pay tribute to the Former professional cyclist Adolfo Bello, who at 91 years old continues to practice this sport, and who has been the in charge of cutting the ribbon.
